This was sent to me directly from the Gibson Beale Street
Showcase. The invoice lists this as
PART NO. ESDPAVSNH1
ES335 Fat Neck
Gibson specifically asked me to use this guitar on my DVDs.
In fact, hand written for the PO # are the words “Video Shoot.”
I used this on several of my instructional DVDs. Most
notably on Total Scales and Easy Scales, Easy Guitar Tricks and Easy Guitar Songwriting
CONDITION: It’s in excellent, showroom condition. Being 11
years old, there are some signs of being played on the back of the guitar, but absolutely
no notable dings, dents or scratches that go deep beyond the finish. There is
some black padding residue from a guitar stand that can definitely be cleaned
PLAYABILITY: I love it’s fat neck. It’s unlike any other I’ve
played. As I state in the video, I don’t know the proper name for the shape of
the neck, (as in D or U shape). However, the invoice from Gibson specifically
calls it a fat neck. That it is! Incredible feel to it.
TONE: The sound this thing puts out is endless. I love the
cleans, right on through to the howling sustain. You can really dial this in
with your favorite amplifier to get extremely full, glass-like, rounded notes.
It is a monster of an instrument.
GIBSON CUSTOM w/CASE: As stated, I am the original owner.
This was sent direct from Gibson to me and came with a Gibson Custom guitar case.
I guess the “FAT Neck” feature places this guitar in the custom category.
PROTOTYPE: I only put this in the title because it was an
early release for the “FAT Neck 335.” Gibson introduced this model in 2008, yet
mine is clearly an ’07 by the serial number and matching invoice from the Gibson
Beale Street Showcase store.
